Sunday, May 23, 2010 brings the ACCJ / NIS Walkathon and International Charity Festival into its 19th year. Over the past years this event has been a huge success and has become the largest annual international event in Nagoya.
More importantly, it brings together nearly two thousand members of the International and Japanese communities to support the vital work being conducted by local NPOs and charitable organizations.
The Walkathon has also been successful in raising money for local charities and last year the Walkathon Committee was able to distribute over 5.5 million yen to charities, which support children and those in need in the Chubu Area. This year we hop to improve on that success.
This year will see the event held at Tsuruma Park for the second time and our goal is to raise 8million yen. This will get us back on track to the level of funds raised before the economic downturn and we need everyone’s help in reaching this goal, whether you are participating as an individual or as part of an association or company.
The Walkathon should prove to be a fun and memorable event and a super opportunity for international exchange between members of the Japanese and International communities. So invite your friends and family and join in the fun.

The anuual NIS PTA Garage Sale will be held at the Nagoya International School on Saturday, May 8th, 10am-3pm. The Nagoya International School Garage Sale is a great place to buy books, magazines, comics and videos in English. It's also a fun day for the entire Nagoya community to get together and shop for bargains, eat International food, have your face and nails painted, buy personalized airbrush t- shirts and caps, purchase local crafts and much much more including a HAUNTED HOUSE! Come join the fun!
