Homeward Bound
Your expatriation experience in Japan is coming to a close. Whether you have been anticipating this day since you first arrived, look upon it with dread, or fall somewhere in between, research shows that repatriation is even more challenging than expatriation. Are you prepared for the last leg of your adventure?
Jillian Mickleborough-Sugiyama, certified Canadian counsellor and psychotherapist, has formed a group for women who accompanied their partners overseas on an international job posting and are now embarking on the last leg of their expatriate journey: repatriation. This group provides a confidential, non-judgmental, safe and sharing atmosphere to discuss topics relevant to your repatriation including:
• Navigating repatriation as a multi- faceted transition
• Fostering an awareness and understanding of your global identity
• Understanding and preparing for the impact of repatriation on all your life roles: partner, mother, friend, daughter, sister, career, leisurite
• Understanding and preparing for the impact of repatriation on your children
The group goal is to guide you in personally creating a successful and meaningful repatriation.
Membership: Open to all women who accompanied their partners overseas on an international job posting that lasted at least one year.
Date & Times: Eight weekly Wednesday meetings from March 17, 2010 – May 19 (not including March 24 and May 5)
