Gingerbread House
Part of a family Christmas is having a lovely family gingerbread house as the centerpiece of the table on Christmas Day, or in the genkan to welcome your visitors with Christmas joy and a delicious ginger aroma.
A friend of mine has for some years run Gingerbread House making classes in English, and is doing so again this year.
Children above about 3rd grade can make their own house, or an adult can assist two smaller children. Each house costs 2,800 yen which includes the materials you need to build and ice the structure.
Date: December 20th OR December 23rd
Time: 2pm - 4:15pm
RSVP: 7 days prior to class date, by calling 090-4214-3051 (Bonnie Fujita)
Venue: 3rd floor, Ajioka Civic Center, Komaki

Bring:
--- Small decorations for the house (bright candies and cookies etc)
--- Non-edible decorations (these can be found in the cake decoration section of the supermarket)
--- a base for the house (strong cardboard covered in tin foil works well)
--- an apron for each participant
--- a hand-mixer if you have one
--- 3 towels (which will be used to prevent drying out)
The decorated house is 12 x 12 x 14 cm and has a garden around it, so plan to come by car and not by train. The finished product will last for three months, so you don't have to eat it right away. It makes a unique Christmas gift for your Japanese friends or neighbours, too.
